LONDONDERRY -- Dozens of young local actors will bring the popular 1970s Saturday morning cartoon show “Schoolhouse Rock” to life.
On March 11 and 12, members of Londonderry’s Kids Coop Theatre will perform “Schoolhouse Rock Live! Junior”
at the Adams Memorial Opera House in Derry. The theater troupe includes performers from Londonderry, Derry, Chester, Danville, Hampstead, Hudson, Pelham and other nearby towns.
“This musical contains the familiar, catchy and educational songs that many of us grew up on,” Kids Coop spokesman Nancy DeLew
said. The performance will include such familiar numbers as “A Noun is a Person, Place or Thing,” “Unpack your Adjectives,” “Three is a Magic Number” and “Do the Circulation.” In an entertaining presentation, Tom, a new and somewhat nervous teacher, is assisted by the various personalities inside his head to help him reach his new students through these memorable, educational songs.
“The appeal of this show is for all ages with its funny
characters, upbeat songs and energetic dances,” DeLew added.
Evening performances for both days are at 7 p.m., with a Saturday matinee performance offered at 1 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors for the 7 p.m. performances and $12 for all seats for the 1 p.m. show. Tickets can be bought at Daren’s Music Center, 25 East Broadway, Derry, or at www.kidscooptheatre.org.
